On 27th March the Government announced some changes to the wage subsidy and leave payment scheme.
At 3pm on Friday 27th March the leave payment scheme was discontinued. This scheme is no longer fit for purpose given that our country is now in lockdown. Applications that were submitted prior to this cut off time will continue to be processed and paid.
The Government is looking at ways to support essential services employees who may require sick leave due to Covid-19.

Since 1 March 2020, Inland Revenue no longer accept payment by cheque, including cheques dated after 1 March. This is a significant change for some however there are plenty of other payment options which are faster, less expensive and more secure

Rewind to 2017 and Johnny Ryan and Phillipa Harper were keen to own their own business. A chance conversation with friends led them to look at Just Cabins: a franchise network across New Zealand. Their friends, Roger and Helen Stonehouse already owned the Just Cabins Hawke’s Bay territory but were keen to split the area in two. Whilst Johnny admits that the idea of a franchise (and having to meet franchisee conditions) had never appealed before, they quickly saw the benefits.

For over 50 years Karamu Holden has been a key player in the Hawke’s Bay motor industry. They pride themselves on their strong client relationships and loyal customer base. People are a huge focus in their business.
In April 2018 Dave, Aileen and their family moved from Auckland to take over the ownership of Karamu Holden. It’s become a family affair as Aileen joins Dave and now works in the finance and insurance side of the business. After speaking with Dave recently, it became apparent that he is the best man to carry on the values and traditions of which Karamu Holden has been built.
As a child Dave grew up in the 70’s, a time when oil prices were soaring, unemployment rising and an economic recession to deal with, however despite these challenges we were still a nation that found it easy to laugh at ourselves as we had Fred Dagg who reminded us “she’ll be right”.
