Connecting Interior Inspiration and Good Old Fashioned Service

Ross and the team at the Tile Shed on Southland Road are an inspiring lot. Moving from Auckland a year ago, Ross and June purchased this longstanding business and started to add their own touches to shape how they like to connect with and serve clients.
Central to this is a commitment to staying independent and establishing trade connections with all the main tile importers. This means that they now have more than 2000 tile samples in store and access to many thousands more – the majority of which are less than two days away by freight. Not only has this allowed them to offer their customers more options, but it has allowed them to stay super competitive on price.
“When we started, we understood that many locals felt that the only way to get a good deal was to go to Auckland. We have now turned this thinking on its head. In fact, we will be adding a ‘cash-n-carry’ store (opening at the start of August) for those who are looking for value, which is particularly appealing to landlords and commercial property owners” says Ross.
“Increasingly we are seeing clients research the design options online or within magazines before coming into our showroom, and often come with very specific requirements. At times, this all goes out the window when they see our vast range of options but, once a decision is made, our team can usually access the tile or something very similar for them to compare against their other furnishings.”
“We have a range of tilers who we supply so can easily recommend a few tradesmen, and we also hire all the gear required for the DIYer to try their hand at tiling . Our clients are diverse and we put a lot of effort in ensuring that we provide every one of them with terrific value and the level of support that they need to achieve their tiling needs,” says Ross, “and with that goal in mind, we are expanding into natural stone finishes for floors and walls.”
Hawke’s Bay is a great place to be in business and the Tile Shed team is growing fast as locals discover just how good they are to deal with. To find out first-hand how they can assist you, we recommend that you call in and see Ross and the team when passing.
