Team Building Event at the Hawke's Bay Rescue Helicopter Trust

We recently enjoyed a great team building event hosted by our friends, the Hawke's Bay Rescue Helicopter Trust.
Welcomed into the helicopter hangar in Orchard Road, we first listened to some amazing rescue stories from Chief Pilot Charlie Beetham, and learned from Marketing Manager, Laura Hyde, of the huge amount of support and fundraising the Trust needs each year in order to continue providing the amazing 24/7 free rescue service.
Trust General Manager, Ian Wilmot, then stepped up to issue the PKFCS team building challenge…..to construct three separate items from the myriad of wooden kitset pieces laid out in front of them. Usually a simple task when you know what you’re building, which pieces belong to which item and if you have the instructions, but without them….somewhat challenging!
Used to working with computers, numbers and sitting behind desks, the team had to engage their practical skills and work out which individual pieces might go together and what they might build. They were organised into three teams and set about putting together their kitset furniture. After about an hour, a few exchanges of pieces and a couple of rebuilds, the teams successfully produced a high chair, recliner chair and small table and chairs. Although victorious, the teams were still slightly confused as to the link the furniture had to the Rescue Helicopter. Then all was revealed and the ultimate feeling of satisfaction came when they were informed that their furniture was to be auctioned on Trade Me with all proceeds going to the Trust. A great end to a truly rewarding team building event.
A huge thank you to the PKFCS admin team for their organisation of this great event and the Hawke’s Bay Rescue Helicopter Trust for their time, hosting the event, and of course for their tireless efforts in providing their outstanding rescue service.
