PKF Carr & Stanton, Hastings, New Zealand
06 Nov 2018
Over the past few months, we’ve welcomed new team members, congratulated Jordan King on gaining her Chartered Accountant's qualification and farewelled Shannon Price.
Julie Brockelbank joined our team earlier in the year when Lynette headed off on parental leave. Whilst Julie came from a commercial role she has spent most of her career working in CA firms and is enjoying being back in this environment. Julie is a bit of a dog lover and in her spare time enjoys gardening and DIY. Most weekends she can be spotted out walking her dogs or at one of the local hardware shops buying supplies for her latest project.
Midway through the year, we welcomed Julia Leigh who graduated from Havelock North High School at the end of last year. Julia has been studying accounting at EIT this year and is relishing the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience whilst completing her degree. In her time away from PKF and studying, Julia plays the snare drum for the Hawke’s Bay Caledonian Pipe Band and loves competing nationally with this. She also enjoys the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
Mel West is now the smiling face and bubbly personality that you will see at our front desk. Mel has a background in marketing and is really enjoying getting to know clients both over the phone and in person. Outside of work, Mel is kept busy with two children, and her family all like to spend their weekends caravaning and riding motorbikes.
We are also pleased to introduce Josh Marr, our latest Farming Growth team member. Josh has grown up on a cropping farm in mid-Canterbury and has recently graduated from Lincoln University with an Agri Commerce Degree. Josh is passionate about all things rural and was keen to work for a progressive firm that helps farmers drive growth in their business.
He is eager to immerse himself in the local farming community, spend time with clients and learn a more about our region. Josh loves spending time outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and mountain biking.
We believe that having the right team members is vital to the success of our business and place real importance on having a family-like culture and living our values. It’s fantastic to welcome these new team members on board.
In the middle part of the year, we farewelled Shannon who had been the friendly face at our reception desk for the previous three years. Shannon and her partner relocated to Northland and we wish them every happiness for their future. We were extremely pleased to receive this feedback from Shannon about working here:
"PKF Carr & Stanton really live up to their values. They encouraged my professional development and personal growth by supporting my study and celebrating with me in my achievements. It was easy to build relationships with colleagues right throughout the organisation, as everyone believes in honest communication and is driven towards success. PKF Carr & Stanton exceeded my expectations of an employer by fostering a family type culture which made coming into work enjoyable every day. They arranged brilliant team building activities, celebrated personal milestones for team members with flair, encouraged a healthy work/life balance, offered support during personal difficulty, hosted fabulous fund-raising morning teas and provided many, many laughs.
After informing management of my intention to relocate, they even proactively supported me in finding a new role in my desired location, which was phenomenal. It’s hard to put into words how grateful I am for the experience of working at PKF Carr & Stanton. They have set a high benchmark for how an organisational culture should be, one I think other firms would struggle to match."
